If the Shoe Fits

I had a fairy tale moment today.
You know that one about the shoemaker who is surprised by a beautiful pair of shoes when he wakes up in the morning?
I woke up this morning to find a box at my door. Inside were, literally, a pair of shoes.
I recognized the shoes from the one time I had seen them before. I had been shopping with a friend and her daughter for a pair of footwear for the younger. I had commented how comfortable the pair was that they had chosen. They made their purchase, and we went on our way. What I didn't realize is that they had also ordered this pair to be delivered to my door.
Totally unexpected and undeserved.
I was blown away.
In my version of the fairy tale, I had been the recipient of the kindness.
I think that's what Heaven will be like.
What I see will take my breath away. And, I won't be there because I did anything to deserve it, but because Some Kind Person loves me. The reason I know this is that He even chose to walk in my shoes.
I am blown away.
Jesus provides. I don't always know how, and I don't always know why.
C.S. Lewis wrote one of my favorite quotes... "Someday you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again."
Today, I am glad to be a little older in my skin. I have come to believe in fairy tales again. In the true reality of this world, there is a Good Guy and a bad guy. There is conflict. Then, the Good Guy really will win in the end.
All this thought from a quiet kindness of my sweet friend. Makes me want to take a step toward "making a pair of shoes" for someone else.
Do you?
