Are You Having a 'Theme Park' Kind of Day?

In the 1960's in Texas, the six flags (what our great state flew under historically) magically turned into a magnificent theme park. A large, middle class family like mine could wake up early on a Saturday morning, hit the road for four hours, and arrive in time for the 10:00 am gate opening.

The water plume ride was my favorite. But, it wasn't at first. Standing in the line to enter the wooden boat, I couldn't see the dips and turns. Plus, I heard people screaming from above. I told my dad I didn't want to ride, but he told me it would be worth it, and that he would hold my hand... it was the best ride of my life!

So, the year my parents told me we wouldn't be going my beloved theme park, but rather some place different, I was none too pleased. Not only that, but instead of the four hour cramped drive to get to our destination, it was suggested it would take 14 hours to get to this new, never-been-to-before place.

No, thank you. Being the youngest in the family, I did not have a very loud voice, so I begrudgingly packed myself into my corner of the car and headed to an unfamiliar place called...

Disney World.

I know you know how this story ends. I can tell you that we never went back to Six Flags again.

Not because it was a bad place; it just wasn't the BEST place.

I have another Father who takes me to places I don't understand as well. I think I want my life to go a certain way, then it turns out drastically different - taking sometimes wild dips and turns toward unfamiliar places in my heart, mind, and soul. And, oftentimes I go begrudgingly -

You, too?

Trust.

Trust Him that He knows what's best. He knows the best 'theme parks' - the best ones for our hearts, minds, and souls.

Just hold His hand, and like a child, trust that the ride your Father has you on is the best one for you, even if you don't know where the dips are, or how it will turn out.

It will be worth it.

He will hold your hand.

Enjoy the ride!

Today, and every day!

"That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love Him." 1 Corinthians 2:9
